Graduate Student
Luca is a PhD student in Medical Engineering Medical Physics at the Harvard-MIT Health Science and Technology program. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Glasgow (UK), where he was awarded the prestigious Gilbert Cook Prize as the top performing graduate engineering student. He also attended the National University of Singapore as a visiting undergraduate student and the University of Cambridge (UK) as a visiting master’s student. Throughout his studies, he discovered his passion for biomechanics and soft robotics, which led him to developing an instrument for mechanical characterization of soft tissues as well as a 3D-printed soft robotic actuator with applications in object manipulation and wearable assistive devices for stroke patients. Luca’s goal is to combine soft robotics and tissue biomechanics to develop technologies to better understand the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying specific cardiovascular conditions and, ultimately, to develop mechanical assist devices for these patients.
